Late August 2014. The growth on this has taken off but it seems to be forming many new plantlets although some of the shoots have grown in length as well. The colour of the leaves has also become a much healthier dark green and the surface is shiny. All in all it looks a lot healthier at the end of the summer heat and humidity.

May 2014. So back to square one with identifying this! Thought it was an Angraecum distichum from the flowers but it may be a dendrobium of some sort instead!
Regardless, new shoots are now emerging (the weather has got very warm and humid recently) but the growth is very, very slow! The tiny roots appear first as you can see in the picture below...
... Then after a while the shoots appear. A little hard to see but there is a tiny new shoot emerging from this cutting below.
The roots seems to be growing on both sides of the stem and there is a tiny flower bud developing...
April 2014. Have re-mounted this so hopefully there will be more opportunity for growth. Also moved it more to the shade as the leaves look like they are shrivelling in the sun. Have also cut off some of the longer stems to see if they will root separately...
November 2013. Purchased this from the Flower Market. An African orchid... Found some useful information about the species here & here. Some amazing photos of mature plants here and a close up of the flowers.
